Back In The Swing Of Things

It's not really nice to disappear from my blog life for so long....my apologies! I think my hubby and I needed time to digest the news from Sloane's scope and then before we knew it the holidays were upon us. We are back in the swing of regular life and I am very happy. I, like most everyone around me, was tired of having no schedule, tired of eating too much for too many days in a row, and tired of being lazy.

Sloane is doing just fine. Her inhaler has become an "I can do it" activity and she can. Some surveillance is necessary, but for the most part...she can do it. Now, have I seen a difference with the addition of the inhaler? Maybe on a scale of 1 to 10....a 5?? And I am not even sure my hubby would go that high.

Dr. Palm did call, way back when, about the secretions taken from her lungs. There was bacteria and markers for aspiration, but nothing too earth shattering...which is the good news. The thoughts, all around, are if Sloane doesn't have a fever and isn't sick from the bacteria camping out in her lungs.....then let's use the inhaler, get through the next month and then re-address.

Sloane's juicy cough has diminished for the time being. We hear it but every so infrequently unless she is drinking. Her wheeze has, in my opinion, gotten better. She played a full game of tag with her daddy Sunday night without a time-out needed. So I guess the inhaler has improved the big picture.

What hasn't improved is the coughing while drinking. I feel like every time Sloane's drinks, she chokes. This is something both parents in the house are in agreement with! It's clearly continues to be a volume issue...but it is still happening. The red face, the gasp, the arms raised followed by an "I'm ok, momma, too much."

I am somewhat convinced now that a 2nd surgery is necessary. If each of these micro-aspirations, are hitting her lungs then a tweak is needed. We have our follow-up appts. booked with Dr. Palm and Dr. Rahbar. We are eagerly awaiting their arrival.

Back in the land of a twirling and whirling 3 year old.....Sloane is great. I swear to God she is growing taller every time she sleeps. Its ridiculous. The transformation since September is crazy. Next week, she is having her first real play-date. The kind where you drop your child off and try not to create irrational scenarios in your head! lol

The pig tail wars have ceased.....and today, I have gotten so good at them, that Sloane and I wore matching pigtails!! LOL

I got a comment on this blog from a new fellow LC mom. Welcome aboard, Melanie!
